At the June 2024 National PTA convention, delegates adopted a motion to increase the National PTA portion of the dues by $1.00 for a total of $3.25 per member. This will increase your per capita remittance to Palomar Council to $6.85 per member. The increase will become effective July 1, 2025.
Here are three steps ALL units need to do:
1. Write in the following on your current bylaws: Article IV, 4b – strike $2.25 and insert $3.25*.
2. Add: *Proviso: For the period July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, the National PTA dues portion will be two dollar and twenty-five cents ($2.25), and will increase to three dollars and twenty-five cents ($3.25) on July 1, 2025.
3. At your next Association meeting, present your members with the three options outlined in the graphic to the right and hold a vote on which option to use.
If your membership chooses either Option 1 or Option 2, you do NOT need to undergo a formal bylaws revision. The increase to the National PTA's portion of dues will be automatically reflected in the most recent edition of the standard bylaws from the California State PTA. If your membership wishes to propose an increase to the dues in addition to the National PTA increase (Option 3), you will need to formally revise your bylaws to reflect the proposed change of membership dues. You would need to start this process sooner rather than later to ensure the bylaws were approved in time for the start of the 25-26 school year.
